Went to the app as directed and Microsoft wants $9.99 to load the window solitaire package on my computer. I want my FreeCell back. What a rip off!

The Microsoft Solitaire Collection is costless (with some minor ads).
Now the confusion on the cost might be that I already had it downloaded/connect to my Windows 8.1 account and and then it might accept installed it for me automatically whereas it wouldn't do that for y'all.
Information technology was already installed at Outset -> All apps -> Microsoft Solitaire Collection. If it isn't installed for y'all and yous are getting it from the store make sure you are not opting in to get the "Premium" version. That is the same affair, but with no ads, and a couple of things like that. From what I see on the Store it says that the in app "purchases" range from costless to $ix.99. That is to say install and play for free with ads, or $ix.99 for a yearly subscription, and a month subscription is $1.49. Needles to say I'm non doing that. At that place are people that will exercise it, and there is that revenue that Microsoft is hoping for from "services". From the settings in my version of I tin can select to upgrade to Premium so that is how I know about the offer. And there are of course many other companies putting out solitaire games and of grade they can accuse for them if they like, but there are several that are free with ads.
As for apps vs desktop awarding.
In the beta testing they did put out examination version of Microsoft Solitaire like that (merely Solitaire not Freecell), only they didn't release that to the public. Perchance the will in time, maybe not. Of course anybody has their own preference on a Solitaire game and then they really probably just more grief for doing that than give thanks yous, so that might be part of information technology as well, not to mention the duplication of effort since they take the shop/universal version. For the record the desktop games where dropped in Windows eight.
Personally I recollect that now that the "universal" applications can run in a window it matters little they come from the store or not. Afterwards all this a game, most of it is graphics anyways, not similar the controls matter that much, and you lot tin play them when you are not continued to the Net then it isn't similar that is a problem.

I copied in Freecell from my backup file of Windows seven (Ultimate) files and found it WOULD Not RUN under Windows x! As I have purchased 8 different versions of windows since Freecell appeared, I feel I own it outright, and it is non Microsoft's place to take it away from me or purposefully code Windows 10 to forestall it from running. Am I the only 1 who smells a grade action suit? Are there whatever lawyers out their interested in taking up the case?
Now less you say I tin download it from the Microsoft Store, even though I am currently logged into every Microsoft web site cited in the list of valid Microsoft accounts(Microsoftstore.com, Skype, Role Outlook.com, Bing, MSN) [except Xbox] with my valid Microsoft business relationship caused equally a Microsoft developer in 1993, too every bit iii others Microsoft sites that recognize my account (including live.com, answers.microsoft.com and support.microsoft.com), the Cortana/Edge/Xbox/Store overlaid subsystem refuses to recognize my account password, and so I am unable to admission the STORE to download Freecell.

The only people that "olfactory property a grade action adjust" are people that know nothing of the law.
What you "feel" isn't important. Expect at any software contract and you will see you don't own the software. Y'all are licensed to use it, Microsoft owns the software, and y'all are jump by that contract to use information technology in the mode specified in it. What's more yous are certainly not guaranteed that any given software will run on an operating system it was never designed for or that new versions of that software (Windows 10) volition never drib or alter whatsoever features. You practise take recourse though, scroll back to Windows 7. And certainly y'all can complain to Microsoft and maybe they might practise something if plenty people feel the same style. BTW there is a Windows Feedback app in All Apps for that verbal purpose (be sure to search to come across if some other person has suggested it, and vote it up).
As for accessing the Store. If you are having problems with that I propose you post your own separate question giving as much details as possible and maybe someone may be able to help with that trouble.
Note I'm just some other user trying to assist.

I too have lost all my original windows7 freecell games with this new windows x update, I don't like any of the fancy replacements on offer or the fashion they behave, by showing no regard for our previous piece of work, Microsoft showed a negative side. the customer is always right in the end so please try to make us happy, it would exist nice if I could have my erstwhile freecell game back, also as the original blithe chess titans, which, with respect to the new programmers, seemed and so much meliorate designed, nonetheless nosotros do capeesh your new windows launch and hope information technology will exist an outstanding success.
